Assistant General Manager (AGM)

Full Time - Hourly/Managerial Position– 40 hours per week (May need to work more as requested) - Benefits (First of the month following 60 days of employment)

The following provides a detailed description for the position of Assistant General Manager. Actual duties performed may vary slightly. The Assistant General Manager has overall responsibility to assist the GM in effectively managing all facets of operations of a single gym to include membership sales and promotions, facility management, personnel management and ensuring that the gym is running efficiently and in compliance with Müv Fitness policies and procedures.

The AGM will assist the GM with the following: 

Membership Sales and Promotions Duties:

  • Direct, motivate and monitor sales team to ensure that monthly production goals are achieved.
  • Conduct daily meetings with the Front desk supervisor, Fitness Consultants & Fitness Manger to monitor progress towards monthly production goals.
  • Implement any sales promotions and monitor their effectiveness
  • Ensure the sales team and other team members understand current promotion(s) and pricings and that these are being communicated effectively to guests and members.
  • Ensure that the sales team understands and are trained appropriately on sales systems and protocols.
  • Delegate, monitor and evaluate specifically assigned responsibilities of the sales team.
  • Conduct gym tours, telephone & Internet inquiry presentations.
  • Conduct sales under strict Müv Fitness procedures.
  • Promote special events and programs for the gym.
  • Review membership contracts for completion, including all signatures, billing information & correct pricing.
 
Operational Duties:

  • Inspect the facility daily for cleanliness, safety and to ensure equipment is operating properly.
  • Ensure that all maintenance issues are entered into the maintenance software.
  • Responsible for the control of the cash deposits.
  • Responsible for ensuring the daily deposit is made on time.
  • Manage and maintain operational & payroll budget.
 
Management Duties:

  • Provide leadership for employees through effective communications, coaching, training and development.
  • Recruit, hire, train and develop all gym employees or delegate these responsibilities to the appropriate department head.
  • Manage, monitor, and evaluate the performance of all department heads.
  • Monitor department heads in regards to employee shift scheduling & staying within allotted hours.
  • Communicate with all gym level employees through staff meetings.
  • Ensure that staff is adhering to uniform policy at all times while on duty including name tags.
  • Responsible for managing disciplinary actions involving gym level employees
  • Responsible for monitoring all incident reports filed at the gym involving members and staff.
  • Ensure that dotfit sales policies are being followed.
  • Administer the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that new employee information, employee changes, terminations, and related information are forwarded to Payroll/Benefits Administrator in a timely manner.
  • Contact upper management as appropriate with employee challenges or other potentially escalating problems.
  • Ensure that all write ups and warnings are prior approved by Human Resources.
  • Supervise the Fitness Manger and Personal Training department & report any issues to the AFD.
  • Supervise the Group X instructors & report any issues to the Area Program Director.
 
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must possess well-developed understanding and use of management skills such as recruitment, selection, training and development, coaching, goal setting, performance management, delegation and organization.
  • Possess strong motivational skills, communication, team building & training skills.
  • Thorough understanding of Müv Fitness membership sales systems.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the Daily Sales report and its contents.
  • Possess thorough understanding of the company’s mission and goals
  • Possess knowledge of local competitors, prospective competitors and all relevant information pertaining to these entities.
  • Be promotionally-oriented and have the ability to direct sales through company required outreach programs.
  • Must be knowledgeable with company policies and enforce them daily.
  • Must have a high level of professionalism, honesty, integrity and work ethic.
  • Exhibit a superior sense of customer service at all times.
  • Willingness to work any hours required to achieve company objectives.
  • Basic computer skills
 
Required Experience, Education and Certifications

  • Minimum of one year of proven success as a Fitness Consultant within Müv Fitness or related industry experience.
  • High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or other related field preferred.
 

Physical Demands
